The Crust - This is the first layer off earth that we call the surface. Rocky and not that large, it ranges from 80 km to 5 km. It makes up very little of the Earth.
The Mantle - This is the second layer and also the biggest. It is rock hard but flows around like a liquid. It is 2,900 km.
The Outer Core - This is made of iron and nickel but because it is so hot down in the center of the earth it is a liquid. It is 2,250 km.
The Inner Core - This is also mostly made of iron and nickel but it is actually a solid because of the pressure of the Earth. It is 1,300 km.
